Boss of Daily Express owner Reach quits ahead of his move to run The Jockey Club

The boss of the Daily Express’s owner quit yesterday ahead of his move to run The Jockey Club.

Jim Mullen had been chief executive of Reach – which also owns the Daily Mirror and Daily Star – for six years.

He stepped down ‘by mutual agreement’ to head up the horse-racing company. Reach chief revenue officer Piers North will replace him, a company spokesman said.

Former Ladbrokes Coral boss Mullen will remain available for a short handover period before joining The Jockey Club on June 1.

Reach shares lost 6.1 per cent.
