Hollywood star Anne Hathaway took to Instagram on Tuesday night to send a special message to Bukayo Saka after he made a triumphant return from injury in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Fulham.

After over three months out with a serious hamstring injury, Saka was brought off the bench in the 66th minute to replace teenage wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri and received a huge reception from the Emirates crowd.

It did not take long for him to make a major impact as he nodded home from close range seven minutes later to double Arsenal's lead after Mikel Merino's first-half opener.

Saka's header proved to be winner as Rodrigo Muniz pulled a late goal back for the visitors, with Mikel Arteta's side able to hang on for all three points.

Shortly after full time, Gunners super-fan Hathaway, 42, shared a selfie of herself wearing an Arsenal away shirt on Instagram and captioned the post 'Welcome back #7' - referencing Saka's shirt number.

The Devil Wears Prada and Les Miserables star Hathaway previously declared her love for Arsenal when a video went viral of her celebrating Leandro Trossard scoring against Wolves last season.

Hathaway is an Arsenal super-fan, and a video went viral of her celebrating Leandro Trossard scoring against Wolves last season, with the Gunners star then sending her a video message

Trossard subsequently sent Hathaway a video message, as he said: 'Hey Anne, I really loved your celebration the other day for my goal.

'Keep supporting us, and hopefully we'll see you soon at the Emirates.'

Hathaway watched the video with her The Idea of You co-star and fellow Arsenal supporter Nicholas Galitzine, and said she was 'shaking' after being left stunned that Trossard had got in touch.

Saka's return could not have gone much better, but Arsenal's win did come at a cost as defender Gabriel limped off in the first half with a hamstring injury.

Jurrien Timber also had to be replaced in the second half with a knee problem, while Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori failed to make Tuesday's matchday squad with their own respective injuries.

This leaves Arteta sweating on the fitness of four key defenders ahead of Arsenal's Champions League quarter-final showdown with Real Madrid next week.

However, Saka looked sharp after over 100 days on the sidelines, and will be pushing to start when Arsenal host the Spanish giants at the Emirates.
