A father of six allegedly murdered in a shocking public execution has been described as a vigilante who rid the streets of society's scum.
Ruka Carlson, 30, was allegedly punched, kicked and stabbed to death on Chapel Street in Melbourne's trendy South Yarra on Easter Sunday.
It can now be revealed police arrested a man suspected of being involved in Carlson's murder on Monday.
While initially charged with affray and assault offences, those charges were uplifted to murder on Thursday.
The 35-year-old from Lidcombe in western Sydney was arrested at Melbourne Airport.
The alleged killer was remanded in custody to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on September 4.
The arrest comes after socialite Brynne Edelsten's former lover Cemre Volkan, also known simply as 'Red', described his mate as a 'true hero'.
Volkan had only days earlier pledged revenge against the five men believed responsible for his mate's murder.

In his latest Instagram message, Volkan took aim at 'clear skins' for demonising his heavily tattooed mate.
'Judging such a (beautiful) man by (how) he appeared! He had the most gentle soul! Most loving heart! He was a true hero vigilante!' he wrote.
Volkan described a vigilante as a 'hero who does the work that usually aligns with the law but is not permitted to do so by the police or government'.
'He'd bash (rapists), child (molesters) and people who robbed the innocent,' he stated.
'He was (a) feared man but heavily respected in the scene! He brought order to where dogs ran (rampant).'
Volkan described his mate as 'someone who everyone wanted to be'.
'My brother died in my fkn arms bleeding out, worrying about his family,' he wrote.
On Thursday, a Gofundme established to support Carlson's six children had raised more than $22,000 of a $40,000 target.

'Ruka was not only a devoted partner and father, but also the family’s main income earner,' the fundraiser states.
The other people involved in the attack on Carlson remain on the run, with police calling on members of the public with any information to come forward.
Police were told a group of men assaulted Carlson before chasing him further down the street.
He sustained multiple stab wounds when attacked outside a licensed premises.
Although treated by emergency services at the scene he died while being transported to hospital.
Carlson and his fiancé had shared six children aged between less than a year old to nine years old.
Monique, who was due to marry Carlson in the coming months, told the Herald Sun his final words to her were that he loved her.
'Okay I’m just eating now and I’m coming home baby, I love you,' he had texted her.

Monique remembered her fiance as 'the most beautiful soul on earth'.
'The most loving, caring, gentle father, our six kids and I are suffering immensely without him,' she told the publication.
The fundraiser stated Monique was facing 'unimaginable grief' while trying to provide for their young family on her own.
'This fundraiser is about more than covering funeral expenses. It’s about giving Monique and the kids a chance to grieve without the added pressure of financial stress, and to begin rebuilding their lives,' it states.
Anyone with information on the attack should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
